What's New!
January 2008
Happy New Year, dear readers. I'm busily drafting the third Mara Gilgannon mystery, which opens with a murder in a sperm bank. I've also published a short story, "The Cereal Aisle," and a poem, "Teaching English in War Time," in an Iowa City magazine called In Situ. This month I'm also teaching a course on writing mystery novels at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Hello dear readers,
Mara Gilgannon’s second adventure, MURDER BY MASCOT, has just hit the shelves, and it has already garnered attention here in Iowa City. News stories in the DAILY IOWAN and the IOWA CITY PRESS CITIZEN both focus on one of the many inspirations for my novel: the hoopla surrounding a 2002 University of Iowa sports scandal.
To access the DAILY IOWAN story, you may need to register (it's free). Then look for Mason Kern's article about my novel in the back issues. Its title is "Piercing Look at Wayward Hoopster." It appeared on the front page of the metro section on February 3, 2006.
I hope you enjoy the articles and MURDER BY MASCOT.
All best,
Mary
